Icasa, check your facts

Hey all,
So here goes, my 1st post in around an aeon. Sucks, I know.
Let me pave that road to nowhere with stating my intention to blog more often.
Got the whole 3G thing configured at home, which should help.

Saw a note last week, google has launched blogsearch, spec it, I've tried a few searches and the thing is quite comprehensive.

As I work in cellular, I've decided to focus my blog on that. Won't write long boring treatises of all sorts, just the occasional observation. At least as interesting as the technology are the political happenings behind the scenes, won't profess to be an insider and even if I was, saying too much here could get me in hot water, so I'll limit myself to a little harmless banter.

First, cellular pricing in SA, the Icasa report and all the press around that.
Sure this is newsworthy stuff and consumers are entitled to a fair deal, but please verify your facts before publishing! They have since published a retraction:

Here a little extract from the retraction:

Say what?! How do you get something as basic as a forex calc wrong by a factor of this magnitude!?
Would we have a world-class infrastructure in this country if the networks weren't profiting from current operations and investing in the future?
Are prepaid subs subsidising the cost of this expansion by paying proportionally more than contract subs and is this unfair since they are unlikely to benefit from new technology anytime soon? Now there's a subject for another day.

Cheers vir eers,
K
